Remembering 9/11

Today marks the 16 year anniversary for an event that was mind altering for many Americans.

I was not immediately/directly affected by the events of this day, being I was a 16 year old girl in mid Missouri, however the after effects have changed the way we as a people have done and view many things.

I have forgotten many things about my life as they were not important, but I don’t think I will ever forget the moments when I heard what had happened. I was running late to school. I heard the news on the radio, first that one plane had hit the twin towers and then the second.  The tragedies just kept coming after that.

When I got to school that day I told people and no one believed me at first.  I was in a bit of shock and truth be told, the notion seemed so atrocious that I cannot say I blame anyone for not believing me.

Shortly after I arrived, maybe fifteen minutes, my teacher started to roll in a television set and began to air the news.  We were all shocked. Surprised that this had happened and our hearts immediately went out to the victims and their families.

Things were never going to be the same.

If you haven’t already, this is just a little reminder to take a moment out of your day and remember that fateful morning and the sacrifices made by many people that day.

Much love,Stacey 2
