What products or services do you offer?
5″x7″ prints of my watercolor paintings, sold as individuals or as sets. All paintings are of baby animals and mythical creatures, there’s plenty more collections to come.
How long have you been in business?
Since August 2017, i have spent the last year painting to build up 6 collections to start with. I’m already working on new collections.
What inspired you to start your own company?
Last summer I gave birth to my son Leo, I wanted to paint some pictures to hang in his nursery. So I painted 6 baby safari animals and the feedback from my friends and family was so positive and motivating I decided to go for it and paint more! I used to paint a lot when I was younger but a career with H&M as a visual merchandiser became my main creative focus.
Do you have a mentor or someone who inspired you?
Both my parents are very artistic and I would always admire their work when ever they would sit and paint or draw with me when I was a kid.
Favorite part of owning your own company?
I can choose my hours, be creative and still be a full time mummy to Leo. All my paintings are done when Leo sleeps at night.
The other great thing is that there’s no creative restrictions, if I want to paint a collection of 6 monsters next I can, I’m the boss 🙂
What is an obstacle that you found you were unprepared for?
I’ve not come across any just yet as this is a new venture but I’m sure I will, I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
How do you put your business out there?
I’ve so far just relied on Instagram and trying to get the tags right on Etsy.
What mobile apps/online resources help your business the most?
Instagram, 100%, the inspiration in evolving interior trends is just fabulous to see on global levels.
What are your favorite tools to help with workflow and organisation?
Without a doubt, my notebook and pen, it may sound old fashioned, but ideas on paper for me are golden! I’m forever writing lists and planning, doodling ideas down.
How do you maintain balance in life?
I certainly put being a mummy first and then I save my business hours for when my son is napping or in bed. Sometimes Leo will help me by being a super cute good boy when we take an order to the post office
Any words of wisdom for people looking to launch a business of their own?
Be brave and just go for it! Believe in yourself 100%
