What products or services do you offer?
I make funny, nostalgic, and sometimes offensive things, mostly a lot of home décor and decorative stuff. I make a lot of cross stitches, screen printed tote bags, wood burned bottle openers, and more. Every year I try to change up my inventory and make new things.
How long have you been in business?
Off and on since 2003
What inspired you to start your own company?
I’ve always like making things. Back in 2002 I started working at an independent shop selling women’s accessories. The owner always told me how much she loved my purses, which I made myself. So I stared selling them in the shop. From there I opened an eBay store to see if there was any interest and there was. So I thought this would be a great side hustle. After a few years I moved and stop making things, and life got in the way. Back in 2010 I started back at it and haven’t stopped since.
Favorite part of owning your own company?
Making whatever I want and never having any limitations.
How do you put your business out there?
Even though social media seems to run the world, I do not have a business dedicated Facebook page or Instagram. I look at it like my business is part of who I am, so I post on my personal social media advertising what events I am doing or what I am making. I use Etsy Local to advertise any craft shows/events I am selling at. I do a lot of alternative/ oddities/ punk rock flea markets in the tri-state area.
What mobile apps/online resources help your business the most?
Etsy, Paypal, and Square
How do you maintain balance in life?
Once a month I map out my schedule; what I need to restock on Etsy, what I need to make for upcoming markets, what events do I need to sign up for, ect. Then I starting filling in my days. During the week I do all of my planning and prepping, then on the weekends I get to work. Since I have a full time day job, I don’t do a ton of crafting during the week because I like to keep a social life ……. at least that’s what I try to do.
