Water! SO important… and it is calorie-free. 😉 Do you drink enough water? I used to drink Dr. Pepper like it was the only fluid in the world a few years ago. Now, water is pretty much the only thing I drink and I cannot say there is any way I regret that change.
Water is vital to life. Approximately 60-70% of our bodyweight is water. While our body can adapt to most things, we cannot adapt to dehydration. We can only survive a few days without water.
Consuming the appropriate amount of water will make sure endocrine gland function improves, fluid retention will be alleviated (less bloating, what..?), liver function will improve – causing the percentage of fat used for energy to be increase (do I need to highlight that bit?), metabolic functions improve, nutrients are better distributed throughout the body, regulation of body temperature improves and blood volume is maintained (this list could go on forever by the way).
Sedentary people should consume roughly 9-13 cups (2.2 L-3.0 L) of water daily. If you are active in a weight loss program, you should drink an additional cup (8 ounces) of water for every 25 pounds you carry above your ideal weight.
